Title of conference speech: "The image of the teacher in the light of selected research"

· Long-time employee of the Institute of Educational Research in Warsaw and the University of Bialystok (Faculty of Education Sciences). Currently a professor at the Maria Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education in Warsaw. ORCID : 0000-0002-3126-8507, author of about 200 scientific publications. Main (current) scientific interests are: educational policy, determinants of education functioning. In the past, he has devoted a lot of research and publications to school network, school in rural areas, demographic and political conditions of education in rural areas. An important strand of scientific and research activity was/is the study of teacher issues, which has resulted in many publications. This was related to the fact that from 2007 to 2015 he was the so-called national manager of the international study TALIS – dedicated to the study of teachers and school principals.

· In addition, as a team member, he participated, among others, in such projects as “Education for All” – coordination of UNESCO, “Scenario Project” – vocational education strategy (coordination of CEDEFOP, UKIE, University of Amsterdam), “Access to Education in Poland”. – UNDP coordination, “Small schools in Poland”. – UNDP coordination, “Development of rural areas” – UNDP coordination, “Education system after the reform: conclusions and recommendations.” – coordination: the Research Center for Scientific Policy and Higher Education at the University of Warsaw (World Bank grant), “Modern Trends and Actors In Education” – (Visegrad Group – Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary).

He gave lectures to students and doctoral students within the framework of the Socrates program (Finland, 2001).He took part in a scientific workshop on school network planning – at the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP, UNESCO) in Paris (1999). He did a research internship at the Hospitality Scheme in Oxford (Nuffield College) on educational inequality (1992). He was the so-called “National Correspondent” to the Council of Europe on secondary education in Poland (based in Warsaw), delegated by the Ministry of National Education (1993-1995).
